What is Digital Printing?

Printing has revolutionised the world since its inception in the 15th Century. Digital printing is a method of printing from a digital image directly on to your choice of media. It differs from lithographic printing in that there is no need for the production of printing plates. While the cost per page in digital printing is higher when compared to more traditional methods, cost is also avoided due to the process not requiring printing plates. This equates to flexibility around order quantities that suit the customer.

Did you know… Typefaces/fonts were originally created by hand and named after the printer who created them? One example being the French printer Claude Garamonde whose font Garamonde might be familiar to you as it is still in use today.

Oldest Mechanically Printed Book: The first mechanically printed book is generally accepted to be, the Gutenberg Bible, printed in 1455.
